10 Tips to Help Educate Yourself about Film Directing


Here are 10 tips to help you educate yourself about film directing:

1. read filmmaking books and magazines
2. take film classes and workshops
3. search the internet for websites – subscribe to filmmaking ezines
4. observe on a movie set
5. get a job as an office production assistant
6. find a movie you like. Get the script (online) and then review it scene-by-scene
7. work on small projects (for free if you have to)
8. watch movies and television
9. watch the DVD specials (“behind the scenes”)
10. read film scripts and TV scripts
