Western audiences might recall her best from her turn as a seductive, vengeance-seeking Bond girl in Quantum of Solace, but for Ukrainian-born actress and former model Olga Kurylenko, Terrence Malick‘s drama To The Wonder is closer to the films she’s most eager to make — and more like the French films she’s already got under her belt.
Starring Kurylenko and Ben Affleck, the meditative drama tells the story of a newly married man who becames drawn to a former flame. The cast also includes Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem.
During a stop in Toronto last fall to unveil To The Wonder at the Toronto International Film Festival, Kurylenko talked to CBC News about acting without a script, staying in character for more than a month and working with the philosophical Malick, known for his expansive and impressionistic filmmaking.
