Attention BC Filmmakers! Knowledge Network’s BC History Shorts Competition – Nelson Edition

by Peter D. Marshall

British Columbia’s Knowledge Network brings you stories that inform, inspire and entertain … but we can’t do it alone. Right now, we want short films about Nelson and the Kootenays so we’re awarding $30,000 to filmmakers who pitch us the best stories.

We’re looking for a series of short historical documentaries about the Kootenay region, to be created from still photographs – archival, historical and even personal photos.

Short-listed applicants will be invited to a two-day workshop and pitching session on June 1st and 2nd, 2013 in Nelson BC, with one filmmaker awarded a commission of $30,000, or two filmmakers each receiving $15,000 commissions, to produce their projects for broadcast on Knowledge Network and on Knowledge’s online services.

Deadline for submissions is April 26, 2013.

Visit for full details and to apply.
