CollabFeature takes crowdsourcing to a whole new level.

Whereas Kickstarter has helped independent filmmakers raise the money to finance projects from hundreds and even thousands of supporters, Marty Shea and Ian Bonner’s “international coproduction film group” pools the talent and resources of dozens of filmmakers to achieve the same goal: a single, cohesive feature.

Filmed on five continents, the organization’s first project, “The Owner,” beat the Guinness World Record for most directors of a film with 25, weaving a variety of characters, culture, languages and genres into a single narrative centered on a mysterious backpack. “The Owner” is available on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download now.
