A short film contest sponsored by YouTube will cast a worldwide net for new filmmaking talent, with 10 finalists presenting their works at the 69th Venice International Film Festival in August.
The contest winner will then have the opportunity to work with legendary filmmakers Ridley and Tony Scott.
The contest, called Your Film Festival, will officially launch at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah which opens Jan. 19. The contest is co-sponsored by Emirates Airlines.
Nate Weinstein, entertainment marketing manager for YouTube, said the contest is “really about story-telling.”
“We’re looking for stories in any genre or format. So that can be short film, live-action or documentary or a web series episode. The sky’s the limit as long as it’s story-driven,” Weinstein said.
