I'm currently in pre production on my first "nano" budget feature which naturally promises to be an incredibly challenging endeavour. So many intangibles, and so much work to be done... and it does feel at times like I'm paddling against a tide that threatens to overwhelm me if I lose momentum or strength... Please, don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly passionante about what I do and grateful for the opportunity I have regradless of how much energy has gone into forging it... What I'm talking about is the long dark tea time of the soul moments, when you sit down quietly with yourself and say, fuck the self talk and the unwavering belief... I'm not interested in pep talks or persuading myself.... I want to be brave enough to be realistic and brutally honest with myself... and what you really want to know is can I do this, and will I succeed? The answer is of course is simply whatever happens... But the wonderful thing is when this question is relinquished and the answer doesn't matter and for me this occurs when I, as you stated so well, you do not place my focus on what I cannot do, or may be... but instead place my focus on doing whatever I am doing to the highest posssibly level that I can.
