He is best known for his action films such as Broken Arrow and A Better Tomorrow, but Hong Kong director John Woo said he is actually a romantic at heart. He revealed this during a media conference for his new movie The Crossing, at the ArtScience Museum on Thursday (Dec 4).
“I’m a romantic but I’m rather shy, so I often don’t know how to express it. I would sometimes just pick a flower from the park on the way home to give it to my wife. I did things like that much more often when I was younger,” said Woo with a smile.
The 68-year-old veteran director, who was accompanied by The Crossing cast members Zhang Ziyi, Tong Dawei and his daughter Angeles Woo, added that he liked to dance when he was younger, and would often dance with his wife.
